Cabbage

Cabbage is the most popular vegetable grown in Poland. The estimated production reaches above 1.3 million tons, and the main production areas are localized in Małopolskie and Łódzkie province. The most popular cabbage varieties are: white cabbage, red cabbage, savoy and Chinese cabbage.

Class I – healthy vegetables, compact, without withered outer leaves. Cabbage should not have any cracks, mechanical damages, and damages caused by pest and pesticides. Minor shape defects, bruising and cracked leaves are allowed.
Class II – vegetables, which do not meet the requirements of the first class, and their defects do not influence the characteristics determining quality.

White cabbage

The most popular variety of white and greenish colour. White cabbage is offered in: 1-3 kg heads calibration, in 20 and 25 kg raschel sacks or in big bags.

Red cabbage

Cabbage with characteristic red and violet colouring. Red cabbage is offered in: 1-2 kg heads calibration, in 10 and 15 kg raschel sacks or in big bags.

Savoy cabbage

Cabbage with thick, dark green porous leaves. Offered for sales in cartons or wooden boxes containing 6-8 units, 1-2 kg heads or in big bags.

Chinese cabbage

Chinese cabbage is grown in Poland on about 3000 ha. Thanks to field growing, under cover plantations and suitable storage, it is available all year round. These vegetables are cultivated during two seasons: in autumn and spring. Autumn is the best time for the production of Chinese cabbage because it results in the high quality of crops.

Class I – includes healthy chinese cabbages, fresh in appearance, free from mechanical damages and cracks. Cabbages with signs of inflorescence development, internal necrosis, greenfly and damages due to pest (snails and cabbage maggot) are not allowed.
Class II – vegetables, which do not meet the requirements of the first class, and their defects do not influence the characteristics determining quality.

Chinese cabbage is offered in 10 kg cartons, size of sorting 700-1500 grams per unit, wrapped in plastic foil.
