Apples

Poland is the biggest apple producer in Europe. The area of apple orchards exceeds 165,5 thousands hectares and the production is estimated at 2.6-2.9 million tons. The Grójec region in central Poland is considered to be the biggest apple-growing area in whole country.

Class I – good quality, characteristic shape, size and colouring of the variety, completely sound flesh. The apples of this class must be with no damages. Presence of internal feeding, pest, or mechanical skin damages are not allowed. Some defects of the skin are allowed, such as scab, russet, or stem cracks, however they should be minimal.
Class II – sufficient quality, flesh with no defects influencing the positive presentation of the product.

The most frequently sold apples are those of the 70 mm+ caliber in 13 kg cartons. However, apples can also be layered in trays or packed in 1-3 kg pouches.

The most popular variety among customers because of its resistance during transportation is Idared, whereas the most desired varieties because of their taste are Sampion, Jonagored, Ligol, Gala, or Gloster.
